THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CAUSE OF ALIU MAHAMA’S DEATH

While the controversy ranges on as to the true cause of former vice president Aliu Mahama's death, my heart-felt sympathy goes to the family at this moment of their grief. It is my prayer that God will grant them the courage to bear the irreparable loss. Whoever has lost a husband and a father would know the pains the Mahamas are going through at this moment; this is why we must all remember them in our prayers today and always. Ghanaians, most especially the Northerners, shall miss Aliu Mahama for his humility and generosity.
I am however astonished at the buck-passing and controversy as to what killed late Aliu Mahama as if he was not meant to pay the supreme price of dying one day and by any means. This is why at times I cannot understand Ghanaians, majority of who proclaimed themselves as either devoted Christians or faithful Muslims. Who does not know that death is the ultimate that will come at any time and without a notice irrespective of who and what is responsible?
I believe he who does not create cannot kill without the creator's approval, if therefore it is the turn of Alhaji Aliu Mahama to answer the ultimate call of nature, let his death not be politicised. The former Vice President was a politician who came, saw but conquered. an hardworking and humble politician, I believe his friends and supporters will not be doing him any good by instigating another round of controversy after his demise, he deserved to rest in peace now that he has passed on to join his creator or ancestors.
To set the record straight
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor revealed that the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama died of a stroke. Alhaji Aliu Mahama was admitted at the cardiothoracic unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital a week before he passed away.
In an exclusive interview with Citi News, former President Kufuor revealed that his late deputy had collapsed on a campaign platform at Atebubu in the Bono Ahafo region.
“I never thought he was unwell till about three weeks ago when we learnt that he had collapsed during campaigning in Atebubu area. He was flown to Korle Bu and recovered after days."
According to the former President, “he [Mahama] went up North to celebrate the Eid, but after some days the report came that he had collapsed again and had been brought back to Korle Bu”.
“I visited only to learn that he had been stricken with a stroke from which he didn’t recover."
“Ghana has lost a fine human being with a great personality. He was ready to serve and did not suffer from complexes. He worked very hard in government so it is a very big blow to me personally,” he said.
