Olu Jacobs’ Harvest of Awards
2011 has indeed been a wonderful year for veteran actor, Olu Jacobs. Recognition has come his way from several quarters – home and abroad. In June he received the Prix Charles Mensah (Ecran d’Honneur) for his outstanding achievements over the course of his career as a professional actor.This award was given to him at the Ecran Noirs film festival, which took place in Yaounde, Cameroun. He was similarly honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at the ZAFAA Awards, which took place in London, on October 27.He was also recently included in a list of 364 individuals, who are to receive Nigerian national honours. He is to receive the honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).He was born in Kano in 1942. He is an indigene of Abeokuta in Ogun State (Nigeria). He attended the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in London, England. Over his career, he has starred in several British television series, international films, and Nigerian films.
